Coach Melissa Holzopfel is the Assistant Softball Coach at Berea-Midpark High School and a recent graduate of Cleveland State University, where she was a standout Division I pitcher for the Vikings. Over her collegiate career, Melissa tallied 700+ strikeouts and earned multiple accolades, including Horizon League Pitcher of the Year (2025)Horizon League Tournament MVP (2024), and helped lead CSU to a Horizon League Championship.

Her achievements were recognized beyond the field as well—Melissa was honored with the Greater Cleveland Sports Award for Female Athlete of the Year during her time at CSU. She also competed against nationally ranked programs, including the University of Oklahoma, showcasing her ability to perform at the highest level.

Before college, Melissa starred at Perry High School in Massillon, Ohio, where she was a 2x Ohio Division I State ChampionStark County Player of the Year (2021), and threw a one-hitter in the 2021 State Championship game. She was also nominated for Gatorade Player of the Year.

With over seven years of experience giving private pitching lessons, Melissa brings her competitive mindset, technical skill, and passion for player development to the next generation of athletes.
